The ban to fresh fish at the table in the Tyrrhenian Sea due to the start of the fishing stoppage brings to a halt the activities of marinas from Genoa to Livorno, Naples to Gioia Tauro, and Palermo to Cagliari. The measure halts operations in ports in Liguria, Tuscany, Campania, Calabria, Sicily and Sardinia from October 1 to 30. From October 3, however, those in the stretch of coast between the Ionian and Tyrrhenian Seas from Brindisi to Reggio Calabria resume. Exempt is the Rome area, where activities had already stopped in June. As was the case last year, in addition to the set closed periods, vessels will have to make additional days of closure depending on the fishing area and the type of resource fished. Despite the stoppage of activity on the tables of the affected regions, it will still be possible to find Italian products, from oily fish such as anchovies and sardines, to swordfish, as well as sea bass, sea bream, sole, mantis shrimps, clams and mussels from small-scale fishing boats, dredges and aquaculture.
