"Italy intends to be at the forefront of the reconstruction effort in Ukraine and Odessa in particular". These are the words of Vice-Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, who yesterday took part in the European Council for the first time hosted by a non-EU country, namely Ukraine. In Kiev, the holder of the Farnesina explained that Italy wants to "put the realities of excellence that our country can boast in the field of restoration at the service of our Ukrainian friends". Launched last July in the hours following the destruction of Odessa's Cathedral of the Transfiguration, the Italian project aims to bring together Italian and international cultural institutions, architectural and engineering firms, companies and economic entities on the topic of urban and architectural regeneration of Ukraine's cities and cultural heritage, creating a European hub for reconstruction, with a focus on social infrastructure such as schools and cultural institutions.
