The Venice Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation into the accident involving the tourist bus that collapsed Tuesday evening after tearing down a guardrail and falling from an overpass in Mestre. The hypothesis of multiple road homicides is also being investigated. The primary hypotheses on the causes of the disaster are a risky move or the driver's illness, while it appears certain that no interaction with another vehicle occurred prior to the sad occurrence. However, there is yet no reconstruction that can determine with confidence the causes of the disaster, thus there are no inquiries for the time being. According to Venice's Chief Prosecutor, Bruno Cherchi, there are now no materials to draw judgments on the guardrail, thus an expert assessment will be required to determine its status at the time of the accident. The accident-protected recorder of the vehicle will also be examined. The 21 victims have all been identified, including a one-and-a-half-year-old child and an 11-year-old girl, and the conditions of some of the 15 most critically injured in the tragedy are improving, while 5 remain in critical condition. The tragic event occurred on October 3 at approximately 8:00 p.m. and involved a vehicle in Mestre, in the Venetian area, prompting condolences from all institutions and political forces in Italy.
