A massive fire broke out yesterday inside the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, which hosted the Ryder Cup a few days ago. The facilities built for sporting events went up in flames, particularly the Hospitality Pavilion, which is designated for Premium spectators. The fire erupted near the playing fields and created a big cloud of smoke that spread throughout the area. The 120 square meter, three-story building was entirely engulfed in flames. The cause of the fire is yet unknown, and no one has been killed or injured. The possibility of malicious intent cannot be ruled out: the Tivoli Prosecutor's Office will investigate the case. The firefighters of the Rome command responded to stop the fire in Via di Marco Simone, Guidonia Montecelio, with three teams: two tankers, a ladder truck, and the TAS Nucleus. The Ryder Cup is the most important and prominent golf event in the world, with 271,191 spectators registered in the most recent edition, for an average of 45,198 per day across the six days (three of which were competition).
