Prada will add a dash of Italian luxury to the spacesuits worn by astronauts on the Moon. On October 4, the private American aerospace business Axiom Space and Prada, the Italian fashion brand, announced a collaboration on the spacesuits that Axiom is building for use in Artemis missions, beginning with Artemis 3 in 2025. NASA and partner company Axiom Space unveiled new spacesuits for the Artemis program and beyond on March 15 in Houston. Axiom Space will specifically employ Prada's experience in soft articles and composite materials to assist develop the spacesuit that astronauts on Artemis missions will wear while walking on the Moon. "There are many reasons to partner with a company like Prada," said Michael Suffredini, CEO of Axiom Space. "They are more than just a fashion company. They actually do quite a few technologically advanced things". In actuality, the decision to partner with the Italian luxury group was not made by chance. Aegida Investments, a fund run by Francesco Pastor, and Lorenzo Bertelli (Prada Group marketing director and heir named by Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli) invested 6 million euros in Axiom Space in January, obtaining 0.2% through a capital increase.
