"The intolerable and painful progression of workplace deaths and accidents necessitates an urgent and rigorous examination of the safety conditions under which workers work. Dying in a factory, in the fields, or in any workplace is an unacceptable scandal for a civilized country, an unbearable load on our consciences, especially when we discover a lack or wrong application of laws and procedures behind the incidents." So stated the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in a message sent today on the occasion of the National Day for Workplace Accident Victims. "Safety is not a cost, nor a luxury: but a duty which corresponds to an inalienable right of every person - added the head of state - We need a choral commitment of institutions, companies, trade unions, workers, places of training so that a true culture of prevention spreads everywhere”.
