As early as 1567 the English were talking about jeans, referring to the massive export of moleskin from Genoa. And now the very museum of jeans will be born right here. The fair dedicated to the famous fabric enlivened the historic center of the Ligurian capital with more than 100 events until Sunday, also welcoming a delegation of buyers from Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, South Africa, UAE and Kazakhstan. The idea for the future is to create in the progenitor city a real permanent space for the enhancement of denim, along with themed works of contemporary art. The location that could host the new museum is the Metelino building in the Darsena area, which during the just-concluded edition has already hosted not only new denim designers, but also the "Artejeans 2023" exhibition, which remains on stage until November 5 with some 50 works made of Candiani fabric and donated to the city by contemporary artists. Denim brings Genoa, artisans and small businesses closer to the fashion world that matters.
