The Romans' passion and interest in sustainability is fading. Almost eight out of ten (77%) of the capital's residents say they are passionate about and interested in environmental concerns. A figure that is -1% lower than in 2022 and -4% lower than in 2020. But who are the Roman citizens who are most concerned about the environment? From Generation Z (18-24 years old) through professionals, women, grads, and students. On the other hand, the share of Romans who show disinterest in sustainability issues is growing to 24% (+2% compared to 2022). Seven in ten Romans (69%) are concerned about sustainability, an increase of +4% from 2022, whereas one in four (25%) Romans believe that a sustainable approach is merely a trend. These are some of the key findings of the fourth Rome and Sustainability Observatory.
