From cinemas to theaters to concerts, the entertainment industry is finally leaving the dismal Covid-19 season behind. With more than 3 million events, up 80 percent over 2021, and with 3 billion euros in spending, up 187 percent over the previous year, for 205 million spectators also up 150 percent 2022 marked a sharp recovery. This is the picture that emerges from the SIAE 2022 Report, whose data also allow for estimating a 2023 recovery to pre-pandemic levels and a 2024 growth. Compared to the figure on the value generated, 3 billion euros in 2022, and which saw a drop of 20 percent compared to 2019, the loss in the first six months of the year would be halved (-9 percent) without taking into account that the drop, in single digits, does not contain the predictably positive numbers of the summer months: in short, "we can hope to close 2023 with a clear recovery on pre-pandemic levels and lay the foundations to aim for a 2024 with a positive sign," said Matteo Fedeli, SIAE Director General, presenting the 2022 report.
