From now on, the perpetrator of a traffic homicide may no longer be arrested as long as he or she stopped immediately to render or activate aid on behalf of the victims and immediately made himself or herself available to the police. This is provided for in a new law, which also introduces the new crimes of nautical homicide and grievous or very grievous bodily harm. It triggers imprisonment from two to seven years for anyone who negligently causes the death of a person by driving a boat. The aggravating factors for those who get behind the helm after consuming alcohol or drugs are the same as for road homicide. Thus, a prison term of eight to 12 years is provided for intoxication with a blood alcohol concentration above 1.5 grams per liter, or for driving under the influence of drugs or psychotropic substances.
