Italy has been crowned the World Champion of Team Panettone. The Italian squad ascended to the top of the podium in every category at the final, which took place yesterday in the pavilion that served as the venue for the Panettone World Championship in Host Milano. The pavilion was crowded with spectators and enthusiasts from around the globe. During the event, which was organized and promoted by the Academy of Masters of Sourdough and Italian Panettone under the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forests - in collaboration with Italian Gourmet as Official Media Partner, and HostMilano - the eight national teams in the competition presented their preparations to the juries, which were performed live in the laboratories of the Polin group in Verona under the eye of the cameras. The technical jury, chaired by Thierry Bamas and Luca Mannori and comprised of the team managers of each national team, declared Italy the winner, with first place going to Maestro Aniello di Caprio for its traditional panettone, to Maestro Giuseppe Mascolo for its chocolate, and to Maestro and team captain Claudio Gatti for its innovative savory panettone. A result achieved through the efforts and dedication of the entire squad, including team manager Davide Malizia, trainers Ezio Marinato and Maurizio Bonanomi, and reserve of excellence Beniamino Bazzoli. In second place was Japan (silver for the traditional and innovative ones, and bronze for the chocolate one) with the Masters Kanako Takada, Seiji Yamanaka and Yoshihiro Fujisawa who also won the prize awarded by the Starry Jury, composed of leading international names such as Enrico Derflingher, Jean-Paul Hévin, Agostino Iacobucci, Christian Jürgens, Max Mascia, Davide Oldani, Fabio Pisani, Christian Schaberreiter and Gianni Tarabini. Argentina took third place (tied with Spain for chocolate panettone and third for inventive), with Maestros Juan Manuel Alfonso Rodrguez, Samuel Gonzales, and Nicolàs Welsh receiving the Press Prize, which was awarded by a committee of Italian and international journalists.
