Abdesalem Lassoued, the Tunisian bomber who killed two people in Brussels on Monday, landed in Lampedusa on a punt in 2011. After a brief sojourn in Italy, he moved to Sweden, where he appears to have been expelled. Back in Italy, the Digos classified him as radicalized in Bologna in 2016: he expressed willingness to join the jihad and leave to fight. Intelligence had also been watching the man. He later traveled to Belgium. It is possible that he struck two Swedes out of resentment for the nation from which he had been banished.
