Despite the restrictive turn of central banks' monetary policies and moderate wage dynamics, inflation in Italy remains high (+5.3 percent on September 2022 according to ISTAT's preliminary estimates, down slightly on a monthly basis), and there are signs of difficulties in the economic system, in a geopolitical scenario where factors of instability and uncertainty are multiplying. Agribusiness has been among the hardest hit sectors and one of the main centers of transmission of price increases in Italy, due to its role in the economy and its dependence on foreign countries for energy products, raw materials and intermediate goods that make it particularly vulnerable to tensions in international markets. Nevertheless, the dynamics of food prices were lower than the average recorded in the EU and in Germany and Spain, the ISMEA Report on Italian Agribusiness reports.
