Serie A football is worth at best 900 million euros for five years, 4.5 billion in total. That is the amount offered by Dazn and Sky, or the broadcasters vying to win the league's TV rights from 2024 and for a five-year period. The figure, which is lower than the current takings from the clubs (927.5 million euros per season), has disregarded the expectations of many presidents who had even set the figure of 1 billion 150 million euros as the minimum threshold for awarding the rights in the call for bids. The opening of envelopes with bids generated internal debate in the assembly, now divided into several souls. Despite the effort of the two broadcasters, a group of companies led by Aurelio De Laurentiis is instead winking at the creation of the channel. In a wait-and-see position are the biggies: AC Milan (although Cardinale in an interview explicitly mentioned the hypothesis of transforming the League into a media company) and Juventus would like to open the six envelopes submitted by banks and investment funds, which are interested in supporting the clubs in the realization of the channel, but only after deciding what to do. The problem is that the broadcasters' bids are binding until October 23 and, by notice, would lapse if the veil is lifted on the six proposals from financial institutions.
