With a 7.6 percent increase, it is a historic record for Italian food exports in the world, reaching 36.2 billion euros in value in the first eight months of 2023 despite international tensions on world trade in goods and services related to the war in Ukraine. This is according to Istat data on foreign trade for August 2023, which show a leap for food, which grows more than three times the overall export figure compared to the same period in 2022. Among the main countries, the sharpest growth for Made in Italy at the table is reported in France with a 13.5 percent increase in food exports ahead of Germany (+11.3 percent), which still remains the main outlet market, while Great Britain is growing (+11.2 percent) and the 2.5 percent drop in the United States, which is the main outlet market outside the EU borders, is worrying.
