Starting today, with the arrival of Cyclone Medusa, Italy will be grappling with the first weather bomb of autumn 2023. Our country will literally be split in two on the weather front: while northern regions will be hit by cloudbursts and windstorms, the South will have to deal with an unseasonable heat wave, with near-record values. As ilMeteo.it weather website explains, a cyclonic vortex behind Portugal will move slightly northward and will be absorbed by a second and much larger cyclone, Medusa: the latter will move toward our country, creating a real "weather bomb". There will be heavy rainfall and violent hurricane-force wind gusts that in this case could reach speeds of more than 140 km/h: watch out for Sardinia and part of the Ligurian Sea, here especially between eastern Liguria and upper Tuscany where the risk of a powerful swell with waves up to 6 meters high is more than concrete between Friday 20 and the early hours of Saturday 21
