Migrants "depart having been duped by unscrupulous traffickers. They are then sold as a negotiating tool. They are kidnapped, enslaved, exploited, and imprisoned. They have been humiliated, tortured, and raped. Many people die without ever achieving their aim." This was expressed by Pope Francis during his Moment of Prayer for Migrants and Refugees in St. Peter's Square yesterday, on the occasion of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops.
