"The needs for social protection are universal and their full satisfaction is a decisive aspect in the implementation of the model of coexistence outlined by the Constitutional Charter”. In a letter addressed yesterday on the occasion of the "Welfare, Italia Forum 2023" event, President Sergio Mattarella emphasized the importance of public health. "The challenges that our country has to face are common to the whole European Union - said the Head of State - In this perspective, the European Pillar of Social Rights, in enhancing the diversity of the experiences of the different Member States, represents the effective guide to pursue the fight against inequalities and to promote inclusion also from an employment point of view, thus providing answers to the essential needs of the population" . "The aging of large groups of citizens calls into question the social contract between generations, with the need to protect the greater fragility of the elderly without jeopardizing the aspirations of young people," he concluded. "We need increasingly targeted tools, suitable for supporting people throughout their entire life span, beginning with health care services. It is an unavoidable public responsibility, although intervention and engagement with the private sector remain valuable."
