It is called "Cocoa Charter Progress Report" the tool with which the Ferrero Group monitors the supply chain of one of the most important ingredients for its production, cocoa, a raw material that has great geopolitical relevance. At the forefront is the issue of sustainability and compliance with international standards on labor and human rights. The Cocoa Charter Progress Report that the Group updates annually documents the progress and efforts put in place to ensure sustainable sourcing in the cocoa supply chain. Thus, on the one hand, the company's commitments to a responsible supply chain, and on the other, the Action Plan that turns goals into concrete actions. Ferrero has purchased 224 thousand tons of cocoa in the last year, passing - in 100 percent of cases - through certification systems and independent sustainability standards such as Rainforest Alliance, Cocoa Horizon, Fairtrade or others. Technology then plays an important role on the sustainability front, as 96 percent of cocoa purchased on the market by Ferrero is traceable to farm level via GPS. Child labor then is a sensitive issue. Ninety-nine percent of the farmer groups from which Ferrero buys cocoa are covered by the Child Labor Monitoring and Remediation System, an essential tool for intervening in problems affecting children in the cocoa supply chain. Ferrero's Cocoa Charter, in particular, leverages its partnership-which the Group considers strategic-with Save the Children.
