Yesterday, the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, sent the following message to the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, after the dramatic massacre in Maine in which 22 people lost their lives and more than 60 were wounded: "The whole of Italy has learned with deep sadness the news of the shooting that shook the town of Lewiston, Maine, causing many victims and even more numerous injuries. In this mournful circumstance I wish to convey to you the expressions of the most heartfelt condolences of the Italian Republic and my own personal condolences. We are close with feelings of sympathy to the pain of the families shocked by an act of such brutal violence and wish the injured a speedy and complete recovery".
