Not all of them are as good, lucky and successful as Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid), but there is no doubt that Italian coaches are all the rage around the world. As many as 187 of them are working abroad. After winning the world's top five championships (Italy, France, Germany, Spain and England), Ancelotti will be the first Italian coach to sit on Brazil's bench (from July 2024). Target is the 2026 World Cup. Fabio Capello had previously tried, with England (and then Russia), but without success. Many federations, abroad, had relied and are relying on Italian coaches. The latest is Roberto Mancini, who left Italy in mid-August and signed for Saudi Arabia at the end of the same month. Also to have done great things on national team benches are Marco Rossi, who came close to the 2022-23 Nations finals with Hungary, and Gianni De Biasi (now in Azerbaijan), who made history by taking Albania to the 2016 European Championships. Vincenzo Montella just took Turkey to the European Championship, while Domenico Tedesco ferried Belgium to the European Championship. However, there is one league, the French Ligue1, where there are even three Italian coaches and one is leading the way with Nice, the absolute surprise of international soccer along with De Zerbi's Brighton, designated by Guardiola as his heir at Manchester City. Also Francesco Farioli, with a long experience in Turkey, has moved to the French Riviera and is teaching his offensive soccer. Fabio Grosso, who has just arrived at Lyon, on the other hand, is staggering while Rino Gattuso, back from La Liga with Valencia, is trying to lift Marseille.
