For months, there has been discussion and writing about a plan for Africa that will bear the name of the entrepreneur and politician Enrico Mattei. But, in terms of helpful acts to promote the development of the African continent, what are the priorities of Italian public opinion? The first part of the poll "Africa and health: Italians' perspectives," compiled by Ipsos for Amref Italia, attempts to provide answers. As revealed in the initial segment of the survey, titled "The Idea of Africa for Italians and the Political Agenda," a mere 12% of participants possess knowledge regarding the Mattei Plan and can recollect its contents. Furthermore, a substantial 46% rely solely on informal sources to recall the plan's name. Looking at the African continent, Italians believe that economic aid alone is insufficient; Africa is a continent with numerous resources that should be better utilized (86%). The most critical help should be access to health care (36%), building school facilities and excellent education (33%), improving the agricultural sector (26%), and combating malnutrition (21%). The management of migrant flows ranks fifth at 16%.
