Francesca Bergesio, daughter of Lega senator Giorgio Maria Bergesio, is the new Miss Italy. She was born in Bra, in the province of Cuneo, and lives in Cervere; she is six-foot tall and a graduate of the Liceo Classico Europeo high school. The girl, who will attend medical school in the future, lived five years in a boarding school where she discovered a passion for acting. She describes herself as "quiet, reserved, determined". From the stage, she thanked everyone: "I would like to specialize in cardiac surgery and combine my work with fashion or cinema, which I will not give up". Miss Italy number 84 was an edition marked by pride in beauty, against a "demonization" stigmatized by everyone, from jury president Vittorio Sgarbi to jurors Giulia Salemi, Hoara Borselli and Giuseppe Cruciani. The election - streamed on the contest's website - took place at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Salsomaggiore Terme, in the province of Parma), where the forty girls (two from each region) who had made it through the prefinals had convened.
