"Should the preliminary estimate for the third quarter be confirmed, the growth target for the current year contained in the Budget Planning Document (0.8 percent) could be subject to a - albeit small - downward correction". These are the words of Economy and Finance Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti, who spoke yesterday before the Joint Budget Committees of the House and Senate. "Debt burdens," Giorgetti explained, "are also conditioned by our country's creditworthiness, which in turn is linked to the growth capacity of our economy and the adoption of sustainable and responsible policies. On this we have given a clear signal that investors seem to have appreciated. Indeed, the public deficit is expected to fall below the 3 percent threshold by 2026, in order not only to comply with European constraints, but also to achieve the necessary consolidation of the debt stock".
