Maximum temperatures of thirty degrees, frigid temperatures above four thousand meters, and about twenty degrees in the sea areas. We are in an almost summer phase in Italy, confirming the so-called Indian summer. However, the last few months have been record-breaking, and 2023 will almost certainly be the hottest year in history, surpassing even 2016. Indeed, as in 2016, we have entered an unusual phase of El Nio, the weather phenomena associated with abnormal warming of the eastern Pacific oceans. Like in 2016, we could see a Super El Nino in the next weeks, with a sea temperature difference of more than 2°C: all of this heat would effect the end of 2023, driving the year to record highs, even in Italy. This aberrant period, which will most likely last till the end of the year, will be interspersed with some quick less warm moments in an already warped backdrop. In fact, temperatures will be 5-8°C higher than typical for the time over the following few days.
