In first place on the quality of life podium in 2023 is the province of Bolzano, which has always been at the top of "good living" (it was 2nd in 2022). Next are two metropolitan cities, Milan and Bologna, in 2nd and 3rd place, which improve and confirm their 2022 performance: they were 5th and 3rd out of 107. Trento and Florence follow. These are the results of the Quality of Life Survey by ItaliaOggi - Ital Communications, in collaboration with La Sapienza University of Rome, now in its 25th edition. At the bottom of the ranking, as in 2022, is Calabria's Crotone (107th), along with the Sicilian provinces Messina and Caltanissetta (105th and 106th). The dimensions analyzed are: business and labor, environment, education and training, population, crime, income and wealth, social security, health system, and leisure. This year, the quality of life in Italy was found to be good or acceptable in 63 out of 107 provinces, in line with the last two years. These are mostly provinces in the Alpine, central and eastern Alps, the Po Valley and the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, with branches to Tuscany, Umbria and Marche. In contrast, southern and island provinces appear almost entirely in groups 3 and 4 of the survey, where quality of life is rated poor or insufficient.
