Anna Kanakis, the youngest Miss Italy, who stood on the beauty queen pedestal in September 1977, died at the age of 61 in Rome. Actress and writer, daughter of a Greek father and a Sicilian mother, she was crowned Miss Sant'Eufemia d'Aspromonte at the age of 15 due to a rule modification. She competed in Miss Universe in 1981 and subsequently made her film debut, with tiny roles in the wonderful comedy starring Giancarlo Giannini and Ornella Muti.
