The e-commerce sector is expanding rapidly, both in Italy and abroad. According to Statista, e-commerce 2023 will conclude with over $4 trillion in revenue, a +10% gain over 2022 and 2021 (both years closed with $3.32 billion), when travel limitations enforced during the epidemic helped grow online sales even more. Italy is also doing well, with an annual growth rate of 11.59% between 2023 and 2027, which is better than global growth. Italy is expected to end 2023 with almost $48 billion in income, rising to nearly $74 billion by 2027. Even in terms of "user penetration," or the proportion of the population that makes online transactions, Italy is on track to surpass both the European (69.5%) and worldwide (66.6%) averages by 2027, rising from 68.2% in 2023 to 72.4% in 2027.
