Tragedy nearly struck on the Sempione railway line, which connects Italy and Switzerland. The engineer of a freight train jumped out of the moving convoy near Domodossola after seeing a warning light come on at the control panel. The man was taken to the hospital, but was reportedly not seriously injured. As for the train, it stopped on the buffers at the second station in Domodossola without involving people. Among the hypotheses that could have triggered the warning light was a fault in the braking system, although there is no confirmation at this time. The freight train was traveling from Briga to Domodossola, on the border between Italy and Switzerland. After passing through several tunnels, the shunter became aware of an anomaly (apparently in the braking system) and jumped off the train. The train then continued its journey into Verbano Cusio Ossola. Upon reaching the Domo2 yard, it was then made to go onto a dead end track where it ended its run against the buffers.
