In 2022, there were 4,159,880 EU and non-EU foreign nationals in Inps databases, including 3,630,154 (87.3 percent) active workers, 304,510 (7.3 percent) pensioners and 225,216 (5.4 percent) income support benefit recipients. These are the figures that have been released by the Inps center. According to the institute, 72.6 percent, or 3,020,242 foreigners, came from non-EU countries, 278,597 (6.7 percent) from EU15 countries and 861,041 (20.7 percent) from the remaining EU countries.
