In a house in Teolo, in the province of Padua, the corpses of a mother and son were discovered: next to them were hundreds of cut up banknotes worth about 20,000 euros. The lifeless bodies of the two, an 87-year-old pensioner and her 60-year-old son, were found inside a semi-detached house. Initially it was thought that the two had been victims of an accident, a gas leak, but subsequent investigations revealed a different scenario. The woman and man would in fact have committed suicide. Both had isolated themselves from the world, going out only to do grocery shopping and little else, and it seems they were on bad terms with neighbors and family members. According to the Corriere del Veneto, it was precisely this isolation that drove them to cut up the sum of about 20,000 euros with scissors. Basically, they no longer had direct contact with other relatives and therefore would have preferred not to leave anything as an inheritance.
