"Rapid and sudden growth. In just one week, the number of COVID-19 patients admitted rose by 32 percent". This was reported by Fiaso, the Italian Federation of Health and Hospital Companies, based on the survey of hospitals. The resumption of monitoring in member facilities had marked low and steady numbers for 5 consecutive weeks, with slight fluctuations of 2-3%. In the period from November 14 to November 21, however, Fiaso explains, there was a double-digit jump. These are exclusively patients admitted to ordinary Covid wards, the Federation clarifies. Intensive care units, in fact, do not show an increase and are stable with low numbers. The data on COVID-19 admissions are in line with the 30 percent increase in infections indicated by the Ministry of Health: this is a sign that we should not let our guard down. The average age of patients arriving at the hospital is 77 years old, and the campaign to administer the seasonal dose of the anti-Covid vaccine among those over 60 is stuck at 4 percent.
