The Federconsumatori National Observatory conducted a survey on departures for the Immaculate Conception holiday. According to initial estimates, about 8.52 million Italians have decided to leave for the December 8 holiday to spend a long weekend away from home. Among those preparing to leave, more than 94 percent will stay in Italy, and more than 39 percent will take advantage of the occasion to visit friends or relatives, also taking advantage of their hospitality. While the desire for escapism is great, in fact, the level of attention paid to savings remains high, all the more so in light of price increases and in view of spending for the upcoming holiday season. This year, the most popular destinations are confirmed to be art cities, followed by mountain resorts. Federconsumatori carried out a survey on the average costs that Italians will have to incur to enjoy the vacation weekend: in the case of deciding to go to the mountains, the expenses to be incurred amount to an average of 1,264.64 euros per person (+12 percent compared to 2022) and include the rental of ski equipment, lodging, ski passes and restaurant meals. Those who plan to visit an art city, on the other hand, will spend an average of 662.88 euros per person (+5%) considering restaurants, lodging, transportation, and visits to museums, monuments, and exhibitions. On average, in 2022, the expenses that Italians will have to incur for this weekend have increased by more than 8.5 percent compared to 2022.
