Almost a half-century after the horrific events, the conclusion has yet to be written. Following the recent rejection by the Rome prosecutor's office of a new request to reopen the investigation into Pier Paolo Pasolini's death, Senator Ilaria Cucchi of Alleanza Verdi and Sinistra announced the presentation of a parliamentary question on the subject. The request was made on behalf of the director David Grieco, Pasolini's assistant, and screenwriter Giovanni Giovannetti by lawyer Stefano Maccioni. The petition seeks to determine the identity of the three DNAs discovered at the crime site by the RIS in 2010. The confessed offender Pino Pelosi (who later died in 2016) was convicted in the first degree for "voluntary homicide in competition with unknown persons" for the poet's murder, which occurred at the Ostia seaplane base on the night of November 1 and 2, 1975. For decades, however, Pelosi's version has been questioned, which he will retract in recent years, claiming that he did not personally participate in Pasolini's aggression, but that it would have been carried out by others: Pelosi will claim that he was threatened to justify his silence and false confession.
