According to Italian (39%) and European (37%) citizens, economic concerns are the top priorities for the national government. The environmental and climate issue (mentioned by 18% of Italians), the quality of services (13%) and lastly political corruption (10%) rank second among the issues expressed by interviewees. Crime in Italy has grown for 72% of respondents compared to five years earlier, and 36% indicate an increase in their area of residence. This is the conclusion of the fifteenth edition of the European Observatory on Security study, which was done by Demos&Pi and the Unipolis Foundation. In this edition, three demographic surveys were conducted to investigate the progression of citizens' experience of insecurity. The survey also notes the consequences of the tension in the Middle East with the conflict between Israel and Hamas: among Italians, a significant increase in the fear of new wars in the world, from 41% in July 2023 to reach 54%. Concern about terrorist acts has more than doubled, from 19% in July to 42% in November.
