Rana returns to producing ready meals and sauces in Italy. The historic Veronese pasta maker founded by Giovanni Rana in 1962, which over time has become a "world leader" in the production of fresh food products with a presence in more than 67 countries, has signed a Development Agreement with the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy (MIMIT) for a total plan worth 78 million euros. The aim is to increase the production capacity of the Italian plants in San Giovanni Lupatoto, in the province of Verona, Gaggiano, in the province of Milan, and Moretta, in the province of Cuneo, in the three-year period 2022-2025, and thus meet "the increased demand" in the market for the group's "flagship products" such as pasta, sauces and ready meals, MIMIT explains. The "production of ready meals previously carried out in Belgium" will be transferred to the Piedmont plant. To support the investment, the ministry has granted "more than 9.6 million euros in non-repayable subsidies”, while the Piedmont region will "co-participate economically with 350 thousand euros".
