Extinction Rebellion activists have conducted an environmental blitz from Rome to Milan, from Venice (the Grand Canal was targeted) to Turin and Bologna, to highlight "the umpteenth political failure of COP28 and world governments to combat the climate crisis and the sixth mass extinction." The campaigners were quick to point out that "the substance used to dye green is fluorescein, a salt that is harmless to people, flora, and fauna." "We had to interrupt public service as a precaution, and I hope they end up in jail," said Brugnaro, the mayor of Venice.
