About two hundred people were evacuated from the San Giovanni Evangelista hospital in Tivoli, on the outskirts of Rome, following a serious fire that broke out on the night between Friday and Saturday. Due to the various critical issues and needs of the patients, they were transferred to various hospitals in the capital. The fire allegedly broke out in the building's basement, first involving the mortuary, then part of the kitchens and the second floor. The smoke then spread to the upper levels. One of the patients was found lifeless, but the cause of death would not be attributable to the fire. Three victims were directly affected by the fire, two women and one man. A thorough investigation will be planned once the environment cools down in order to determine the cause of the fire. Local law enforcement officers, Tivoli police and Carabinieri, played a key role in evacuating patients and ensuring the safety of blood supplies intended for emergencies. Meanwhile, the Tivoli Public Prosecutor's Office has already launched an investigation into the fire, and autopsies will be performed on the four lifeless bodies recovered to determine the circumstances of the deaths.
