Fourteen years after its confiscation, Palazzo Mangeruca, the ecomoster that belonged to the 'Ndrangheta and was built about 40 years ago, has been demolished in Melissa, in the province of Crotone, Calabria. 400 kilos of explosives were used for the demolition, distributed in thousands of microcharges that obliterated the six-story building, one of the symbols of mafia power in Calabria. The property, used as a furniture factory, was seized in 2007 during Operation “Piazza Pulita”. Since its final confiscation, it had remained unused in state property. In 2022, thanks to the synergy between the Region of Calabria and the Municipality of Melissa, it was decided to tear it down and build a 35-seat camper area in its place.
