According to an Ipsos study, only 24% of Italian residents are content with how democracy works, while 51% are unsatisfied. The perception of the economic system is striking: nearly three out of four Italians (72%, the highest figure in Europe) believe it works for the benefit of the rich and powerful, while only 54% believe politics is primarily for their benefit (the figure is 68% in the United Kingdom, 66% in Croatia, and 64% in the United States). A strong environment of mistrust develops, with over two-thirds of Italians (62%) asserting no involvement in our country's decision-making process (in Sweden, 31%, and in the United States, 29%). 55% of Italians believe they can change the situation by voting, whereas 77% in Sweden, 75% in Poland, and 71% in France believe they can. 37% prefer a leader who adheres to their principles, while 44% regard the virtue of more mediating. In France, the ratio is 29%-61%, while in Poland, it is even lower at 21%-68%.
