Chiara Scotti, 48, an Italian with a long career in the United States and current senior vice president and director of research at the Dallas Federal Reserve, joins the directorate of the Bank of Italy as deputy director general. The appointment, at the suggestion of Governor Fabio Panetta, was unanimously approved by the central institution's Board of Governors. Prior to her position at the Dallas Federal Reserve, Chiara Scotti served in various roles at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve in Washington: advisor to the vice chairman of the Federal Reserve and other members of the Board, member of the Executive Board of the Division of Financial Stability, economist at the Division of International Finance. She has extensive international experience, particularly in monetary policy, central bank communications, macroeconomics and empirical finance, financial stability, payments, and digital assets. She is the author of numerous research papers published in international journals and presented at seminars and conferences. After graduating from Bocconi University in Milan, she earned a Master's degree and a PhD in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
