The number of companies listed on Piazza Affari is increasing, with a positive contribution not only from Euronext Growth Milan (EGM), the non-regulated market dedicated to SMEs, but also from the Mercato Telematico Azionario (Exm), the main market of the Italian Stock Exchange, which has not occurred since 2019. This is the picture painted by Borsa Italiana in the latest Consob Statistical Bulletin for the first half of 2023, in an unpredictable economic environment marked by the Ukraine crisis, increasing inflation, and rising rates. The number of firms traded on the market increased by 7 units during the time, owing not only to the positive net balances of the EGM (+3) and Vorvel (+1), but also to the Exm (+3), the primary market in Piazza Affari. Taking only the second quarter of 2023, the Exm's net balance of listing admissions and delisting is positive (+2) for the first time since the second quarter of 2022. Profits of banks (€12.8 billion, +61%), insurance companies (€3 billion, +110%), and other financial companies (€374 million, +9%) increased significantly.
