In Italy, the second-hand economy is worth 25 billion euros, and the credit for this goes to "recycling" Italians. However, buying second-hand is not an afterthought or a way to save money, but also a real way of life. Pushing on the accelerator is the growing interest in sustainability and environmental awareness. According to the latest Second Hand Economy Observatory promoted by Doxa for Subito.it, more than half of Italians have bought or sold used items: the economic value generated by second-hand goods was 25 billion euros, or 1.3 percent of the national GDP. Nearly 80% did so for purchases dedicated to the home or the person, choosing mainly from furniture, accessories, and household goods. The trend is also growing given the popularity of so-called decluttering, the method of tidying up and avoiding waste in daily life. Video games, furniture, and collections are among the most popular products in second-hand logic.
