Matteo Piantedosi, Minister of the Interior, spoke in Parliament concerning the events at Via Acca Larenzia, in Rome's Appio-Tuscolano area. "The police headquarters will report to the judicial authority, which will do its part as far as the assessment of the commission of crimes is concerned, and this is what is happening in these hours," says the minister. He goes on to say: "Prohibiting, and not observing and not drawing consequences, has proved to be operationally less profitable." Meanwhile, opposition groups in the Chamber of Deputies have requested immediate information on the events that occurred on the sidelines of the annual commemoration of the January 7, 1978 massacre, in which three young militants of the Italian Social Movement were killed by an armed commando and a bullet fired by a police officer. This year's commemorations have sparked more controversy and indignation than ever before, as far-right organizations assembled in Rome's Tuscolano district to remember the victims used Roman salutes and "Presente" cries, clearly nostalgic for fascism.
