More than half of Italians have bought or sold used items: the economic value generated by second-hand goods was 25 billion euros, or 1.3% of the national GDP. Almost 80% of these did so for purchases dedicated to the home or the person, choosing mainly between furniture, accessories, and household goods. This is what emerges from the latest Second Hand Economy Observatory promoted by Doxa for Subito.it. The trend is growing given also the popularity of so-called decluttering, the method of tidying up and avoiding waste in daily life. Buying secondhand is not an afterthought or a way to save money, but also a real way of life. Pushing on the accelerator is the growing interest in sustainability and environmental awareness.
