A stratigraphic excavation operation is currently underway in the western region of the ancient city of Poseidonia-Paestum, near the city walls and a few hundred meters from the sea, and it has revealed two Doric-style Greek temples. These religious buildings shed new light on the Magna Graecia polis' origins and urban growth, as well as critical data for understanding the evolution of Doric architecture in Poseidonia and Magna Graecia.
