A 24-year-old male was detained on suspicion of murdering a 14-year-old in the parking lot of the Pantano metro C stop in Rome on the night of January 13. After the interrogation and presentation of the young man at the barracks in the company of two attorneys, an arrest warrant was issued. In the 48 hours following the murder, investigators were able to reconstruct the ambush using witnesses and the analysis of numerous video surveillance systems. In particular, shortly before the murder, cameras captured a fight inside a bar between a 29-year-old of Romanian descent and a boy hailing from Eastern Europe. After leaving the pub, the 29-year-old had several phone calls with the incarcerated person, who was not present in the bar. So, in order to fix everything through a meeting, the 29-year-old (along by the young victim and other family members, including two women) proceeded to the agreed-upon location, the parking lot, then the murder scene, but was met by an unexpected scenario. The occupants in a car opened fire on the group, shooting numerous times, one of which killed the 14-year-old. Inside the vehicle were the 24-year-old and three other persons (one of them was recognized as having also participated in the quarrel inside the pub and is still wanted since the murder). The probe is still ongoing.
