The number of bottles of Italian sparkling wine uncorked in the world in 2023 will rise to 936 million, more than triple those of champagne, which will drop to just 299 million (-8.2 percent). This is what emerges from Ismea/Uiv data. More than two-thirds of Italian sparkling wine consumption is uncorked abroad, for a total of 650 million bottles, with Made in Italy toasts clearly dominating internationally ahead of French champagne, which, however, still manages to command significantly higher prices. Outside the country's borders, the most passionate consumers are the Americans, where, however, Italian bubblies fell for the first time in value by 9 percent, while in second place are the British, up 5 percent. On lower values is Germany, but with +8% in value.
