The Japanese market's frontiers have reopened for Italian pork goods. Following an agreement reached in May 2023 between the Italian Ministry of Health's veterinary services and those of the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries on the health requirements required for the removal of the ban due to the outbreak of the African Swine Fever epidemic, the procedure authorizing the first two Italian plants to export heat-treated meat and pork products was completed yesterday. An important result for the Italian System that testifies the excellent collaborative relations between Italy and Japan as part of the "Strategic Partnership" defined by the two Prime Ministers Meloni and Kishida in January 2023. Within the "Strategic Partnership" the extraordinary and coordinated commitment with the Italian Embassy in Tokyo and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry has made it possible to create favorable negotiating conditions based on on scientific evidence and, at the same time, on trust between the parties.
