In Italian universities, less than three out of ten professors are female. A significant gender gap appears not only among the chairs but also among the desks of academic classrooms, with girls falling further and further behind in their choice of technical-scientific topics. On the other hand, they have been confirmed as absolute leaders in the enrollment of humanities faculty. Anvur's "Gender Analysis" report examines women's choices and presence at universities. According to the report, men are always dominating at all levels of their university careers, particularly at the top. It is less visible among researchers, where women account for over half (49%) of the total. The percentage of female associate professors declines to 42.3%, followed by a further decline to 27% among full professors. These are fairly low percentages, particularly at the top echelons of academic roles, albeit they have increased from ten years ago.
